February can bring winter sunshine and frosty bright days or cold blustery showers where you need to wrap up warm. Whatever the weather, we hope these ideas will give you some suggestions to fill your day and create happy half term memories for all ages.
We have many activities here at the hotel that can be enjoyed by all the family. The indoor heated pool is always a winner and for the less energetic, the warm, relaxing spa bath is perfect to unwind in. We also have a games room where a challenge or two can be set, be it at the pool table or with a fast game of air hockey. For adults we have a full size snooker table for your use. There is also the children’s playroom equipped with toys and books for the younger guests or a children’s play park in the hotel grounds. If the weather is wet, spend some time in one of our cosy lounges playing some of the board games that we have or pick up one of the magazines or books to have a browse through.
Bring your wellies for a woodland walk. A short drive away is Ynysmaengwyn, just outside Tywyn. Open all year round, the beautiful woodland setting is perfect for a walk and wander, or for the more adventurous, there is an orienteering course. Wrap up warm and explore the tranquil grounds of the estate once owned by the Corbett family where you can see the ruins of the once grand mansion. There is also the Dovecote that stands in the grounds, a walled garden and also a Fairy Glen hidden in the woods. Or make the most of being the only people on the beach and blow away the cobwebs, where the only footsteps left behind will be your own! Download our scavenger hunt to see how many you can tick off along the way.
We are very lucky here that Tywyn has its own cinema! The Magic Lantern will be showing family films during its matinee showing throughout half term. The cinema here is definitely worth a visit. It was first opened in 1893 as the Assembly Rooms and it has been showing films since the early 1900’s. It is steeped in history but is beautifully modern inside offering table service with a range of snacks and popcorn, a fully stocked bar and two stages where live events are regularly held.
