National Parks Week - 16th-24th April 2023
This week, we celebrate everything wonderful about Eryri.
- Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park covers 827 square miles. ‘Eryri’, the Welsh name, is Wales’ largest national park
- It has been recognised as a National Park is since 1951
- The National Park covers 11,000 hectares of woodland, 37 miles of coastline, has 1,497 miles of routes to explore and has nearly 4 million visitors each year
- There is a total of 9 mountain ranges in Eryri. Snowdon is the highest in the range and also the highest in Wales at 3560ft (1,090m)
- Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is home to Wales’ largest lake, Bala Lake, which covers 1.87 square miles
- 26,000 people live within the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, of whom 58% are Welsh speakers
- Crib Goch is the wettest spot in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park with an average rainfall of 4,473mm each year
