Celebrating World Gin Day!
Saturday 8th June is the day to raise a glass and join in the global celebration of all things gin. The idea is to celebrate gin - whether it's a simple G&T, neat, or in a cocktail.
Gin can be traced back to the Middle Ages. It was then called Jenever – a Dutch spirit made with juniper, a botanical made in the northern hemisphere. The medical effects and disinfectant healing powers of juniper berries were then discovered. Today, the taste of juniper must be the signature note in any gin.
Here at the Trefeddian, we have a wide selection of gin available. The Dyfi Distillery is where our most local gin is distilled, at the Corris Craft Centre. It is produced using hand-foraged local botanicals from the foothills of south Snowdonia. Dyfi Original, Pollination and Hibernation gin have a strength of 45%, but these are overshadowed by the eye-watering 57% of the navy-strength Navigation gin.
Other popular Welsh gins served at the Trefeddian include Brecon Botanical, from Penderyn Distillery, and Aber Falls gin. These are distilled in Abergwyngregyn using Welsh water. We also stock the copper distilled gin, alongside the popular orange marmalade flavour.
The other gins we serve are the well-know Gordon's, Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphire, Hereford, Hendrick's and Monkey 47, or if your preference is a flavoured gin, you can sample the Warner's rhubarb gin or Pinkster's raspberry gin.
