Five Wonderful Things To Do This Winter

1. Embrace walking

Nothing beats an embracing walk along the four miles of sandy golden beach that stretch out in front of the Trefeddian. Whether you choose to meander into Aberdyfi, or brave a longer trek to Tywyn, a winter walk is sure to make your cheeks glow and give you a hearty appetite for dinner.

Tip - Watch out for grey seals, the petrified forest and curlews along the way.

2. Wonderful waterfalls

With winter, naturally, comes a bit more rain and with the rain comes wonderful waterfalls. Pop on your boots and take a little drive to Dolgoch Falls to experience the thunderous sounds of the water as it cascades down the mountainside. A circular walk will take you to the three magnificent waterfalls that roar down the ravine.

Tip - Discover hidden caves and secret paths.

3. Relax

Put your feet up with a good book and relax in one of our cosy lounges. Nothing beats a lazy day and, after all, that’s what holidays are for. Stormy days are always dramatic at the Trefeddian and there’s nothing better than watching the waves whilst treating yourself to one of our delicious homemade afternoon teas. An indulgent soak in the spa bath will complete your chill-out day before a little nap and then dinner.

Tip - Look out for a good book from the library or plentiful magazines scattered around the lounges.

4. Take in the scenery

It doesn’t always rain in Wales and when it doesn’t, we have the crispest winter days where you can see for miles. These days are perfect for longer adventures and drives that take you through the most dramatic scenery you can imagine. Wrap up warm and head off to Bwlch Nant yr Arian for the day. Stunning views of Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains can be seen along the multitude of woodland trails. An astonishing 150 Red Kites swoop down at feeding time, so be sure to plan your visit to experience this magnificent sight.

Tip - Keep your eye out for a lovely gift shop, explorer back packs and fabulous children’s play areas.

5. Explore

Put on your wellibobs and winter woollies and feel like you’re five again whilst kicking the Autumn leaves when you explore enchanting Ynysmaengwyn. Meander through breathtaking and beautiful woodlands to the delightful River Dysynni. Pass tumbled down remains of the once grand estate and the tranquil walled garden - always warm whatever the weather.

Tip - Look out for an ancient dove cote, fairy garden and bug hotel.
