Let The Fun Be-Gin!

This year, World Gin Day falls on 14th June. What a wonderful reason to grab a glass, pour your favourite G&T and relax in the sunshine!

Gin has been enjoyed since the middle ages, originating in the Netherlands and made with juniper. Back then, it was drunk because of its medical effects and healing powers. Gins made today still carry the signature taste of juniper.

The Dyfi Distillery at Corris Craft Centre is just a short drive from the Trefeddian. This where the award-winning Dyfi Gin is distilled. After years of experiments and research, Danny and Pete Cameron opened the distillery in 2016. Dyfi Gin is produced using hand-foraged, local botanicals from the foothills of south Snowdonia. The basis of their work is a sustainable blend of nature, science and family respecting our local, fragile environment. The range they produce is Dyfi Original, Pollination and Hibernation Gin which have a strength of 45%, but these are overshadowed by the stronger 57% navy strength Navigation gin. These are all stocked at the Trefeddian.

Why not take a drive to the Corris Craft Centre and see the distillery for yourself? They are open seven days a week between April and October. They don’t offer formal tours but they are available for chats about gin whilst you browse around the shop. Take a look through the large glass screen and you can watch as the gin is distilled.

We also serve other gins at the Trefeddian, including Brecon Botanicals, Tanqueray (including non-alcoholic), Gordon's, Hereford, Bombay Sapphire and Hendrick's, as well as Aberfalls orange marmalade, Warner Edwards rhubarb gin or Pinkster raspberry gin.

Celebrate world gin day with us by trying one that we have in stock, or have your favourite tipple over ice with a slice. Perfect!
