Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Year
This June, the nation will be celebrating a lifetime of dedicated service. Our Queen, HRH Elizabeth II, will be marking 70 years on the throne with a series of events to recognise her Platinum Jubilee - a quite remarkable and unsurpassed achievement by any British monarch.
The official Accession Day was on 6th February - 70 years to the day since King George VI died. On the same day, a young 25 year old Princess Elizabeth commenced her monarchic reign of the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
In the league table of longest reigning monarchs, the Queen is currently fourth, only surpassed by Louis XIV of France, Rama IX of Thailand and Johan II of Lichtenstein. In fact, the latter two will be surpassed by The Queen on 10th June 2022, making her the second longest reigning monarch ever.
The nation will hold their street parties, festivals and commemorations over an extended bank holiday weekend from 2nd-5th June 2022. At the same time, the Trefeddian will be marking the occasion and offering our own congratulations to a truly remarkable woman.
Of her Platinum Jubilee, the Queen commented "As we mark this anniversary, it gives me pleasure to renew to you the pledge I gave in 1947 that my life will always be devoted to your service. And so, as I look forward to continuing to serve you with all my heart, I hope this Jubilee will bring together families and friends, neighbours and communities".
Here at the Trefeddian, we look forward to celebrating this very special, once in a lifetime occasion, with all of our guests, visitors and staff.
