Corris Caverns

This wonderful collection of studios, workshops and café are located a few miles drive away from the hotel. With a variety of crafts on display, such as an art studio, jewellery making, gin distillery and a pottery workshop, the Corris Craft Centre is a great place to spend a few hours. If you wanted to extend your visit, there is also the Welsh Legends Maze, King Arthurs Labyrinth and Corris Mine Explorers.

An hours’ drive from the Trefeddian is the University town of Aberystwyth. There are many interesting things to do here with The National Library of Wales displaying the worlds smallest book, The Victorian Promenade and Pier with Constitution Hill and the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, Ceredigion Museum and the Aberystwyth Arts Centre. Plenty of things to keep everyone entertained.

The Talyllyn railway is the worlds first preserved railway that was opened over 150 years ago in 1865. The train trundles up the Fathew valley, transporting passengers over seven miles from the seaside town of Tywyn to Nant Gwernol in the wooded mountains of Abergynolwyn. On arrival in Abergynolwyn there is a wonderful café with hot drinks and tasty treats or continue to the end of the line to discover the woodland and walk back to rejoin the train at Abergynolwyn. There is also the option to hop off at Dolgoch falls and take in the stunning set of waterfalls.

Centre for Alternative Technology 

Set in beautiful woodlands just outside Machynlleth, the Centre for Alterative Technology is an educational charity that aims to educate and have a positive impact on climate change. There are hands-on displays and woodland trails full of wildlife and interactive displays where young children can learn through play. There are family friendly events that take place throughout the year. You can even take a ride on the Great Cliff Railway between Easter and October. A wonderful day out for the whole family to learn and be educated abut looking after our planet.

Zip World, Llechwedd 

In the historic slate mines at Blaenau Ffestiniog you will now find the most amazing above and below ground adventures and experiences. At Llechwedd there are six activities available, however, some are weather dependent! 

Titan offers a four-line side by side zip wire experience of 1080m from half the height of Snowdon at 1,400ft.   Alongside Titan, Llechwedd also offers Big Red for those wanting an introduction to the adrenaline adventures! Big Red features two zip wires side by side at 30ft high.  The deep mine tour is an opportunity to go 500ft below ground to soak up some of the history of the mines and learn more of the miners and young children who risked their lives everyday and to see first hand where the slate was produced. 

The world’s first underground golf adventure golf is also here, set over 4 floors, the 18-hole course is set in a disused cavern 500ft below ground. With impressive lighting and interactive elements, this exciting course will put your skills to the test.  Bounce below can only be described at the best playground ever. Jump, bounce and slide your way through the disused mine, on 6 trampoline nets covering an area twice the size of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
